Manfred Broy was appointed founding president of the newly established Zentrum Digitalisierung.Bayern (ZD.B) in 2015. ZD.B was created in Garching, near Munich, as a coordinating platform between science and industry to further support the digital transition in Bavaria. Prior to this appointment, Manfred Broy was a full professor of informatics at Technische Universität München (TUM) for 25 years where he conducted research on the scientific modeling and development of complex, software-intensive systems. Professor’s Broy research focus also includes the use of targeted processes, precise specification of requirements, durable and flexible software architectures, and modern tools based on mathematical and logical methods. Professor Broy is the founding dean of the TUM Department of Computer Science (1992) and a member of the European Academy of Science, Leopoldina, Acatech, and the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities. He has over 350 scientific publications to his name, and has received a number of awards, most recently the Konrad Zuse-Medaille (2007).

Gilles Savard has been a professor at École Polytechnique de Montréal since 1993. He has led the Department of Mathematics and Industrial Engineering from 2001 to 2007 and then directed the Research, Innovation and International Affairs department until 2017. He was recently appointed Executive Director of the Institute for Data Valorisation (IVADO), an initiative of HEC Montréal, Polytechnique Montréal et l’Université de Montréal. IVADO, with over 70 partners from the industrial, institutional and governmental areas, is an advanced research and transfer institute in data sciences, operational research and artificial intelligence meshing more than 1,000 scientists. As of today, he has published more than 100 scientific articles in the key journals and has directed nearly 80 students and highly qualified personnel. He is a specialist in mathematical programming. He has worked on different research projects with the Ministry of Defense for 20 years, using operational tools for the planning process of peace operations. He has also worked collaboratively to develop an innovative methodological approach in the field of revenue management where ExPretio, a company derived from universities, now provides income management tools for airline and railway companies. Gilles Savard was a key player in the EUGENE project, which won the CORS award. ExPretio also received an international business award in 2010 for the quality of its Partnerships by ADRIQ. He is a member of several boards of directors.
Tom is Senior Vice President for Aeroderivative Gas Turbines in Siemens Canada in Montreal, Canada where he is responsible for the Design and Manufacturing Center for all Siemens Aeroderivative Gas Turbines. He joined Siemens in December 2014, following a 20 year career with Rolls-Royce where he held a number of executive management roles in Engineering and Operations. Tom earned his Master’s degree in 1992 from McGill University in the field of shock wave physics. He started his career at Pratt & Whitney Canada and joined Rolls-Royce in 1994 where he progressed through leadership roles as Director of Engineering, General Manager of Operations and worldwide Executive Vice President of Engineering and Technology. He has received the Sir Henry Royce Award for Innovation on two occasions. In 2004, the International Gas Turbine Institute (IGTI) of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers recognized his technical contributions to gas turbine technology by awarding him the ASME Gas Turbine Award and the John P. Davis Award.
